PRESS RELEASE
The General Assembly of Eurojumelages was held in the RR Hotel Alvor Baia, in Alvor, Portugal on the 10th and 11th November, 2025. 93 delegates and accompanying persons were present and the event was jointly organised by CDCR dos CTT, Portugal.
The participating countries and respective number of persons are: France - 33; Germany - 23; Portugal: - 10; Spain - 8; Switzerland : 5; Poland - 4; Great Britain - 3; Malta - 2; Romania - 2; Ireland - 2; Italy - 1.
The General Assembly was preceded by the convention of an extraordinary General Assembly where delegates unanimously approved an important amendment to the Statutes. This amendment was necessary to provide for the smooth continuation of the operations of the organisation.
During the General Assembly elections were held for the post of President with the only candidate, M. Peter Backes being elected with a unanimous vote. Mlle. Hélène Dayan from the French Association was nominated to act as the new Secretary General and M. Philippe Lebeau was confirmed in the post of General Treasurer, both with unanimous acclamation. Mme. Teresa Lachor and M. Silvano Degiovannini were appointed as the respective assistants.
The Council of Administration was also established with representation of all the members countries. M. Michel Morel (France) and M. John Saliba (Malta) were appointed as the Vice-Presidents of Eurojumelages.
During the course of the General Assembly delegates approved the Financial Reports and took cognisance of the Budgets for the next three years. A modification of the subscription structure was also approved.
Delegates also had the opportunity to discuss the events organised during the past three years, which included language courses together with sport and leisure activities
The General Assembly was also complemented by an interesting social and tourism programme that enabled participants to renew friendships and also meet new delegates.
The Board of Administration takes this opportunity to thank all delegates for their support and active participation which led to a very successful meeting. Thanks are also due to CDCR dos CTT who once again demonstrated their commitment to Eurojumelages and provided everyone with a memorable stay in Portugal.
