The twinners tell us
International choir singing in Neuwied-Engers
from 8th to 14th September 2024
“We came as individual voices and left as a choir!”
In the State Music Academy of Rhineland-Palatinate, in the picturesque Engers Castle, located directly on the Rhine, 19 jumeleurs from 4 countries (Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland) met with a choirmaster to sing together for a week and experience the Rhineland culture.
It was a premiere within Eurojumelages, a meeting just for singing. Everyone was willing to take part in the experiment: The jumeleurs with their different voices and the choirmaster who was to mould them into a melodious choir. The historic castle with its rehearsal rooms, guest rooms and Rhine terrace was the ideal location for this ambitious project.
NYSA-ODRA cycling and walking event
The NYSA-ODRA cycling and walking meeting, organized by the Eurojumelages Gorzów section, took place for the 13th time in Bogatynia, the former Silesian Reichenau, between 18th and 22nd September, 2024. The participants were12 jumeleurs from Germany, 2 from France, 13 from Poland and 5 from Portugal, who met at the Rychlo Hotel in Bogatynia on 18th September after travelling privately to the meeting.
Unfortunately, the Portuguese participants left the meeting after the first day. The meeting was officially opened after dinner at 7:00 p.m. by Adam Poholski with the announcement of the program.
Multi-Sectional Meeting in Aachen

This meeting was organised by the Bonn Section and took place in the border triangle of Aachen. In addition to the partner sections, the invitation was open to all members of Eurojumelages. 82 participants were registered, but the number varied as some people joined the event only on a daily basis. The Section of Darmstadt was represented by Karola and myself. On the day of arrival we walked to the Aachener Brauhaus, where we ate dinner.
2024: German language course in Constance
THE LOCATION
This year, the German federation invited us to a German language course at the Humboldt Institute in Constance located on the shores of Lake Constance. This is situated in the state of Baden-Württemberg, with its capital of Stuttgart.
The Lake Constance region benefits from a mild climate due to the ‘foehn’, a hot and dry wind coming from Italy. This phenomenon is much in evidence by the vegetation of the Island of Mainau, also called the Island of Flowers.
2024: International friendship meeting on the island of Fehmarn
(Organized by the Dresden Association from 25th May to 1st June 2024)
On the day of arrival, the organizers were eagerly waiting for the jumeleurs from Dresden's partner associations: Strasbourg (France) and German-speaking Switzerland, as well as from the friendly associations Ticino, Braga, Regensburg and Berlin. The welcome and the joy at seeing each other again were truly wonderful.
In all, a total of 82 participants from seven associations participated in our friendship meeting on Fehmarn. There were:

2024: Skiing in the Dolomites (Pozza di Fassa) from 21st – 28th January
After some people praised the ski week in Pozza at last year's Oscar, I decided to take part after all, especially as I think the area in Val di Fassa is really beautiful and I was very interested in the pistes there.
We were a very large group, as the participants from Alsace had come in a large coach. However, it wasn't just Jumeleurs, as we teamed up with another group of hikers and skiers to make the journey by coach possible.
Due to the large number of participants, there were inevitably several groups with different activities, so I can only describe those that I took part in myself.
